Mount Athos - 3 Days
Mount Athos – 3 Days Escape

A unique culinary experience & spiritual experience! Find your inner peace on the easternmost peninsula of Chalkidiki, a unique paradise of serenity, blessed with unspoiled nature and a rich fish and seafood based cuisine.

According to the Greek mythology, Mount Athos is the result of a fight between the ancient gods and the giants, when Athos, a giant, threw a massive rock against Poseidon. As far as the Orthodox Religion is concerned, it is considered being the Garden of Virgin Mary. Either way, both stories underline the wild beauty and grandeur of this place called Agion Oros, “the Holy Mountain”.

Day 1 - Arrive and get settled
Arrive in the village of Ouranoupoli. Visit the tower of Prosforiou, a local historic monument hosting a museum, if the time permits it. Check in at the five star hotel located by the sea. After settling down, put on your aprons and get ready for an evening hands-on cooking class at a multi-awarded Restaurant, put together by an expert chef who will share some of his culinary secrets with you. Dine in this high quality restaurant and get to know the delicious local cuisine.

Day 2 – Optional Spiritual Mount Athos Experience (strictly for men)
Embark on a boat to “the Holy Mountain” and brace yourselves for a truly “once in a lifetime experience”. Once you reach the port of Dafni, you enter the oldest surviving monastic community in the world, a World Heritage Site and self-governed state in the Hellenic Republic, home to 20 Orthodox monasteries dating back to 1000 years.

You will have the chance to visit and marvel several historic monasteries and be amazed by the extraordinary natural beauty and wild landscapes of this utterly unspoilt part of Greece. Finally, you will end up at Mylopotamos where the Monk Epifaneios will welcome you in the Vineyards and the Winery and invite you in a cooking class on the local “agioritiki” cuisine.

Day 2 – Day cruise to Ammouliani and islets.
Start your cruise sailing to the beautiful island of Ammouliani, where you will enjoy swimming in the crystal clear sea and sunbathing in the soft sand. You will have time to visit the single village of the island and continue the cruise with stops to the nearby, pristine islets. The captain will prepare a delicious barbeque on the boat to complete the experience. Back to the hotel, spend some time relaxing in the hotel spa and other superb facilities and enjoy a gourmet dinner in one of the restaurants with a beautiful sea view.

Day 3 – Departure
Get ready for departure, taking with you all the wonderful memories gathered in the Mount Athos area.
